Position

We are seeking an individual to fill new a role as a Grant Research and Evaluation Consultant. This individual will play a critical role working on assisting project teams on the program evaluation efforts for grant proposals during the “pre-award” phase and transitioning awarded projects from the Business Development department to Client Services department (e.g., “post-award”). Business Development and Client Services teams to work with project teams who are submitting proposals.

 

The Grant Research and Evaluation Consultant would be craft evaluation plans that align with the proposal and program objectives and the funder’s expected rigor, understand the speed and dynamics of working on grant proposals, respond to project team’s request for materials for the IRB during the negotiations process, lead the effort to transition a project from pre-award to post-award once awarded.

Functions

Job responsibilities include the following:

 

  • Serve as the initial “face” of The Rucks Group to potential project teams (e.g., highly client focus role)
  • Gather information about the nature of potential projects to be able to write an evaluation plan
  • Read and digest program solicitations to under the purpose of a grant and the expectations of the evaluation effort
  • Provide feedback on project narratives (potentially)
  • Design and write evaluation plans for grant proposals
  • Manage the process of obtaining information from and returning information to potential clients
  • Manage the transition of funded projects from Business Development (e.g., pre-award) to Client Services (e.g., post-award)
    • Facilitate initial meetings with the project team on the post-award side
  • Keep bio sketches and abridged CVs update by reaching (on an annual basis)
  • Keep client services bio sketches current and up -to -date
  • Work with financial and the administrative side to complete the costing information
  • Conducting literature searches to identify questionnaires and other best practices (share knowledge learned with other components of the team)
  • Designing developmental/adaptive, formative and summative evaluations (e.g., evaluation planning)
  • May also support outreach efforts by co-writing blogs related to evaluation
  • Designing formative and research projects
  • Support the IRB application process by developing evaluation instruments
  • Working in a collaborative environment
  • Other duties as appropriate to support the firm

Candidate

The successful candidate should have: 

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills
  • Strong knowledge of evaluation design approaches
  • Understanding of the federal grant funding process
    • Can read and program familiar with the expectations of grant funding process
  • Strong technology skills to manage zoom, teams, and other software as service platform
  • Ability to articulate logic models and theory of change
  • Ability to write evaluation plans for grant proposals
  • Developing/identifying appropriate data gathering tools
  • Understanding of various quantitative and qualitative data analyses including related software such as SPSS, SAS, STATA, nVivo, and/or R
  • Ability to meet established deadlines for deliverables
  • Should have an understanding of the grant writing process

Requirements

Minimally, the successful candidate will have earned a master's degree in a STEM field, STEM education, program evaluation, and an other related field with five years of relevant experience. A criminal background check is required.
